How does it work?
1. Create a Fund
Just choose an issue, set a funding goal and approximate how long it will take to fix.
2. Announce on GitHub
A comment is automatically posted on GitHub under that issue announcing your fund.
3. Collect Donations
Community members can follow a link to your fund's page and donate any amount.
How much does it cost?
There is no monthly fee or setup cost for using CodeFund, so you will only be charged fees on what you collect. CodeFund lets you raise your first $500 for free! After that, a small 2% fee will be charged for any donations that you receive. You will also be responsible for Stripe's credit card fees of around 3%, but that's it. The rest is yours to keep!
Example: Your fund receives a donation of $100. CodeFund gets $2 and Stripe gets $3.20. You get $94.80
How long does it take to set up?
You can be collecting funds in under 15 minutes. The first step is to sign in with your GitHub account. This allows us to see your repositories and issues so that you can start a CodeFun campaign from our website. The second step is to connect your Stripe account so that you can receive payments. This takes just a minute, and if you don't have a Stripe account yet, you can make one really easily. The last step is to find an issue and click the "Start Funding" button, and that's it!
Head over to our Documentation Page to see detailed instructions about how to get things running.
